About ConvertMP3toMIDI
What this site is
ConvertMP3toMIDI is a free audio-to-MIDI converter. You drop in an audio or video file, and the page writes out a standard MIDI file (.mid) that you can open in any DAW or notation program — Ableton, FL Studio, Logic, GarageBand, MuseScore and the rest.
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, AIFF, Opus and WebM are all accepted, and the audio track of MP4, M4V or MOV files is read too.
How transcription is routed
This site is made by ConvertMP3toMIDI. Vocal and humming use GAME; piano uses Transkun V2; guitar, bass and other pitched instruments use Basic Pitch. Full Song offers a Fast path and an HQ Local path that first separates six stems with BS-RoFormer WebGPU, then routes each stem to the matching local transcriber.
Why there are Fast and HQ paths
Fast mode prioritizes speed: it transcribes the selected source directly in the browser. HQ Local targets dense mastered mixes, where instruments mask one another. It uses WebGPU on the user's device to separate Bass, Drums, Other, Vocals, Guitar and Piano before transcription. This downloads a much larger model and uses more RAM/GPU memory, but no dedicated conversion server is required.
What it is good at, and what it is not
Clean vocals and isolated instruments remain the easiest material to transcribe. Piano uses a dedicated Transkun model, while HQ Local reduces masking by separating a full mix into six stems before creating a Format 1 multi-track MIDI.
HQ Local is still not a perfect reconstruction. Source separation can leak sounds between stems, and the current drum track uses lightweight onset/frequency classification rather than a dedicated neural drum transcription model. Low-memory devices or browsers without WebGPU should use Fast mode.
What it costs
There is currently no account or payment gate. Fast and HQ Local both use the visitor's own device for inference, so the converter does not require a dedicated per-conversion GPU server.
